“Spiritualism has lost it’s spirituality”, words of one of the greatest spiritualist mediums of the 20th century Gordon Higginson. He was the longest standing President of the Spiritualist National Union and earned a great reputation as a remarkably accurate medium and was gifted with many aspects of mediumship. But what was he talking about when speaking of Spiritualism? When we look at organized religion we often see a difference between its structure and its foundation. Churches are build, centers created and hierarchical structures formed in order to organize the religion that was often based and created by a single man.
A following becomes the basis of a foundation and on that foundation is created the structure that has been the basis of war and power so very often in the past and present. What ultimately remains is the foundation and that is the good news! We don’t need the structures and organizations to live a more spiritual life. It all comes down to the individual’s own responsibility and keeping the foundation strong by open debate, sharing of experiences and allowing everybody to walk his or hers own journey. My personal foundation is created by studying many religions and philosophies which has made me a better man, or at least, I hope so. It hasn’t prevented me from making mistakes or doing wrong, it helped me in making the best decisions possible at the moments I made them.
A good foundation is forgiving, but with many structures we see the duality of right or wrong being used to manipulate and control. That’s also why many structures are crumbling and become weaker because the foundation on which they were once build are no longer supporting their heavy weight. When members start leaving, foundations become like quicksand. But many people are still afraid of the power that structures hold over them, not realizing that a structure can only stand on a foundation of people. Either with politics, religion or any other form. Mankind is waking up to their true power, that we no longer have to be submitted to the sick and egotistical agenda’s of organized crime. Because they are criminals!
We don’t need structures! We need a pure and loving heart and allowing that to form the foundation of a new world.
The guy stands back, grabs a big stick and pushes. It nearly falls but manages to recover and stabilizes. Than the guy does it again! He pushes really hard in the back and you see it fall to the ground, on his hands and knees, after which it slowly gets up again.
- IT is a robot!
- IT does not feel any pain!
Why did the guy get hatemail and death threats? Take a look at it yourself and observe what you feel! Oh, it’s happening in the first 20 seconds 😉
Honestly, I was shocked with my own response because I kinda cringed, it was as if I felt the robot fall and get hurt – like a human being would. But it didn’t! The robot just fell, it has no emotions or pain what-so-ever! It has kept me busy for the last few days because as a psychic sensitive I always assumed I could feel the energy or emotions and feelings of the other. But do I?
I don’t have the answer but it’s really intriquing to think that maybe we aren’t capable of ‘sensing’ the energy of someone else – unless – we allow ourself to imagine what it could feel like according to our own ‘library’ of emotions. The other day I came out of a shop and this skinny man asked me for some money and my ’empathy’ seemed to be having a day off. I could not feel his pain, problems, empty stomach or emotional agony and I’m sure he will experience some of it. How come?
“We feel because we choose to do so”… maybe empathy is just a foolish sentiment! Are we experiencing emotions just to come to an understanding that they are not what we think they are? Like the robot; the little shock it gave me by watching it wasn’t from the robot, it’s a dead machine. It triggered something within myself. Emotions help us to move around the world; to group together and to care. To like and dislike, to approve and disapprove etc. But emotions fluctuate, they seem to have a mind of their own, they give color to life but can also create the biggest agony you can imagine.
So are we really that interconnected afterall? Or are we fooling our self by believing we sense ‘others’ when in reality we don’t. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle but for now I’m busy trying to make sense of why I felt something that was not experienced by the real subject.
And please let me know what you experienced watching this video!
One of the things I’ve learned about my sensitivity and have seen with people having difficulty with it too, is a lack of “till here and no further” attitude. Sensitivity and sympathy often go hand in hand and as long as there is an inability to discriminate the difference between empathy and sympathy, many of us end up doing stuff we don’t really want and/or like. For no particular reason (ahum – read on and see for yourself) I remember one of my first lectures on sensitivity for a group of very kind people. Somehow I got the idea of putting the attending people to the test and opened the lecture with something like this:
Good evening everybody, my name is Edwin and tonight I would like to talk about sensitivity.
I know.. nothing special so far, just a nice very common introduction.
We will have a break around 9PM tonight for approx. 15 minutes in which you have time to drink a cup of tea of coffee. Then we continue with the second part of the evening. It is not allowed to take any drinks in the conference room, please be aware of this!
I want to tell you not to ask any questions during the lecture, this is often quite disturbing to me and chances are I will answer them further up the lecture anyway.
Warming up here, it’s getting even better!!!! Continue reading “#13 the “this is bullsh*t”- parameter”
Scroll the internet and you will most likely get overwhelmed with the “Let’s come together and talk about being over the top incredibly sensitive” groups. They have problems with sensitivity, they love it, they say it empowers and others tell you how it drains the life out of them. Sensitivity is HOT! Let’s all be sensitive woohoo. I am shocked with all the nonsense and craziness going on and perhaps, I’m just way too sensitive for all that sensitivity going around.
My eyes fell out of their sockets when I read a post from a lady that, at about 1:30 AM, posted “I’m drowning” publicly on Facebook. That post was followed a few hours later with “nobody cares, this group sucks, you are all fake” and that kind of harassment you may aspect from a sensitive person. Ok, I admit, I’m in that group too but mostly for the pure curiosity of who, what & why.
Anyway, back to the lady in dire need of a life-vest, or should I say, feeling sorry for herself. At some point, her post got some replies with a general context of; “it was freaking night, I was sleeping” (mmm.. good point!) to Continue reading “#12 when sensitivity doesn’t make sense”
Ego is bad.. BAD!!! Very very bad! Many spiritual minded people will tell you this in very convincing ways. Ego is like a bad disease and you need to get rid of it in order to be happy. The reality is; you can’t get rid of it! And here’s my go at it. First of all; ego is not bad! But more importantly, you also need it to be able to function at all in this society. Ego is a protection mechanism if you allow it. Ego helps you to balance between and appreciate what life offers you. Ego is not too bad at all!
The problem rises when there is not a need to be met, but an emptiness to be filled
In a black and white world, the ego is about serving self, while the empath is being sensitive and loves to serve others. The question that rises then is: why would the empath so greedily like to help and serve others? Is it a pattern, an unselfish act or strange behaviour? Is it truly because of unconditional love or is Continue reading “#11 Empaths need bigger egos”
I feel very passionate about spirituality and love to contemplate on various aspects of life and how they influence me. That is; until real life kicks in! Karma, for instance, is quite a bitch and it sounds like this exotic spiritual concept but in reality, it can be a very painful experience. Karma, in easy language, is sort of like; doing and being done. You do something, and at some point in time it comes back to you and it hits you straight in your face. Smack!!!!
There are many ways this can actually happen. Sure, there’s the do good receive better. But that’s not the challenging one. Then there is the stuff where you at some point in time do something out of dishonesty towards yourself. Now this is really a difficult one which I will explain a little bit: at some point in time I wasn’t happy with my relationship, with my work.. well, with nearly everything. I broke up and moved away, or shall I say, run away. It was an escape because Continue reading “#10 doing and being done”
How do you feel? I bet ya most of you will answer with a semi-polite answer saying everything is ok, good, great, fine, mmmm and other nods, smiles or whatever statement you feel like making. In some situations people are even prepared to punch you in the face when you ask them ‘how they’re doing‘. Feelings; we are just not very good at talking about feelings. Really! We aren’t. I’ve never heard someone replying with:
“Well, I woke up still a little disturbed with what happened yesterday at work but I’ve told myself this morning to look at the positive side and that made me feel a little calmer even though I feel my heart rate still a little bit higher than usual and part of me is hesitating to go to work because what if the same situation occurs again?”
Almost lost my breath there 😉 The “hi, I’m ok” is day-to-day human interaction, the other is called mediumship! This is not to say that when somebody asks me how I’m doing they better have 5 minutes to hear my life story of the past 24 hours. As a medium, talking about ‘feeling’ is the basis to work from and with. And this is what makes being a good medium so damn challenging; Continue reading “#8 the comfort-zone called “hi, yeah I’m ok””
Generally speaking, mmmm.. very generally speaking there are two types of people!
- those that act to benefit themselves
- those that act to benefit others
And perhaps those who are asleep and have no idea at all. I’m not a scientist though but my gut feeling tells me there is a tendency to see more men in the first category and more women in the second. This is just a feeling so don’t put to much weight on it. I remember conversations with my mom and every now and then she would say that in her days her parents would not allow this or that. But she wanted her kids to have the freedom to do so. Sound familiar? Continue reading “#6 the DAPL tragedy – two tribes of men”
Stop sabotaging yourself right now! I want to illustrate why? by using some common sense and logic. Are you somebody who is always happy 😉 , *cheer*ful , optimistic, +positive+ and lovey dovey xoxo? Please.. tell me how you do it! (do it please!!!) Reality for most people is that life treats them with good and bad things, happy and sad moments, sickness and health and whatever more. You can lie to me but who hasn’t at times cursed and yelled with your mouth closed turning a as-good-as smile. I have, oh boy! Luckily, thoughts are thoughts, that’s it.
Let’s put some new-age stuff in another perspective:
your thoughts create your life and thinking negative thoughts around any situation in your life will help to create a more negative outcome to occur going forward
That’s not a very nice thought isn’t it? But it’s true if we claim all the other positive variations to be true too. But there is a solution though; STOP THINKING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS! Yaay!! Humanity is saved once again. Gawd.. please… stop sabotaging yourself!
It’s not really the thought that has any effect,
it’s how they influence us.
Think about it; you can meditate and Continue reading “#2 the “your Thoughts create Your life so think Positive” attitude”
